Jeep

Jeep is one of the oldest and most recognisable off road vehicle brands in the world, tracing its origins to the Willys MB military utility vehicle produced for Allied forces during the Second World War. After the war, Willys Overland commercialised the design for civilian use, and the Jeep name passed through Kaiser, American Motors and Chrysler before landing with Stellantis today. In the UK, Jeep arrived properly in the late 1980s and found its strongest foothold through the 1990s with the Cherokee and Grand Cherokee, which helped define the premium SUV segment before it became crowded with European and Japanese competition. British buyers took particularly well to the Grand Cherokee in diesel form, and it remained a common sight on UK roads well into the 2010s. The brand now spans everything from the compact Renegade to the reborn electric Avenger, though the iconic Wrangler remains the closest living descendant of that original wartime vehicle.
